I have been in private practice in north Austin for 41 years. I consider myself very lucky to have chosen a job that I love and can do well.
Good dentistry does not just happen, it takes hard work and strong desire to perform and provide the best dentistry available. Austin citizens are lucky to have a significant number of very good dentists to choose from.
My strong points are:
I try to be a perfectionist. When I am lucky my dentistry is perfect, when I am not lucky it is just very good.
I have never had financial goals in my practice. I have been asked by young dentists a few times to share my advice about having a successful practice. My answer is, do a good job and the money will come.
I practice on the philosophy that people pay me to do a good job. I personally expect to receive a good service or product when I spend my money. Dental patients have that same right to expect good dental services. That is what you are paying for.
